Promoting LGBT+ equality and inclusion across the Bar
With the support of Stonewall, we are working together to establish a forum focused on LGBT+ people working at and for the Bar. It will be a network of chambers, employers and individuals seeking to ensure that at the Bar "Acceptance without Exception" is real, tangible and a shared experience from the most junior to the most senior.
Our aims include:
- Providing a forum of mutual support for all gender & sexuality minority barristers and people who work alongside them, together with their straight allies
- Sharing best practice on workplace inclusion
- Promoting and celebrating LGBT+ role models and allies
Brie Stevens-Hoare QC, from Hardwicke, said "Until now the Bar has lagged behind the progressive achievements of solicitors. Interlaw has shown what a collective focus on inclusion and culture change can achieve. We are excited to be starting that journey for the Bar."
David Wolfe QC, from Matrix Chambers, said "I am delighted to support FreeBar in its objective to promote an inclusive environment for LGBT+ people. I hope as many chambers, barristers, and staff as possible can help us by joining the network, attending our launch event and getting involved in future developments."
