I joined Gatehouse Chambers in 2015 after graduating from University with an English degree. It was my first “proper job” in London after moving from a small working-class town in Yorkshire. I started as an Office Assistant and worked my way up until I was appointed Head of Marketing in 2022. I didn’t come out until I was in my twenties, so joining a visibly inclusive organisation was really important to me. Working at the Bar has unequivocally built my confidence as a marketing professional and a gay man.
Networks like FreeBar have solidified a sense of community amongst LGBTQIA+ barristers and staff across the profession. It is great to see these networks growing and even better to see the progress being made.
