I’ve always had a glass closet – people tend to clock me as a lesbian as soon as they see me (especially at work when I’m out-dressing all the men in a suit and tie). It’s something I’m used to, but sometimes it feels like being in a goldfish bowl. Still, I love being myself and I’ve always felt able to be at the Bar. Aside from getting routinely called ‘Sir’ I’ve found it to be welcoming and professional.

It can be hard to feel like you stick out, especially in a profession with things like an antiquated dress code, and while changes still need to be made (especially for our trans siblings for whom I was honoured to fly a flag this year) I’ve got a lot of hope. So I hope this inspires anyone who wants to, to come to, or come out at, the Bar!
